Blood: Life Uncut, 2017
Science Gallery, London
After conversations with doctors and professors at Kings College London, a work was developed for Blood: Life Uncut with the Science Gallery London. The shows theme was exploring the essential, expressive and visceral nature of blood. Our giant piped uteri were exhibited in the street to gallery walkways of Peckham, and in the mens urinal which was strangely attached to the main gallery. These works referencing puerile bathroom graffiti, displayed “abnormal” blood conditions experienced during menstruation with the aim to demystify these “abnormalities” suffered by many women in the diversity of menstrual experience. (We also made a small tribute to Else von Freytag Lovinghoven by signing her name on the urinal!!)
